SIMON BACK – REZO
The image of the vessel-head continue in this exhibition, which plays with themes of communication, connection and loneliness in today’s culture.
Satellite dishes, ‘Mac Head,’ ‘Man & Machine,’ speak of the relationship between man, technology and his entrapment to it.
Sculpture brings in a new dimension to the work and it’s interaction with space.
Space, line, colour, a portrait of a great grandfather born on another continent, contrasts with african textile. References to Zimbabwe, Africa, his birthplace, are always strong notes in Simon Back’s work.
The artist, who has lived in Mauritius for the latter half of his life, has chosen the Creole word ‘Rezo’ as a title for this exhibition.
